In 1971, the SWM brand was founded in Milano, Italy. In the 1970-80s, it became popular in Europe and the United States. In 2014, Xinyuan Group acquired the Italian SWM brand wholly, and officially released the SWM Swelm brand in Beijing, China on July 27, 2016. SWM Swa Motors has design centers and R & D centers in Milan and Chongqing, Italy to build an annual output of 300,000 vehicles and 300,000 engine bases in Fuling District, Chongqing.
