Chongqi (Chongqing) Light Automobile Co., Ltd. was formerly founded by Chongqing Yubu Automobile Manufacturing Factory, which was founded in 1956. It was later developed into Chongqing Jialing Chuanjiang Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In 2009, Weichai Group Holding Jiachuan Company, and acquired the remaining equity of Jiachuan in January 2012, so that Jiachuan Company officially became a wholly -owned subsidiary of Weichai Group, and was renamed Weichai (Chongqing) Automobile Co., Ltd. On January 29, 2021, the company officially changed its name to Sinotchong (Chongqing) Light Automobile Co., Ltd.
