Genesis continues its assault on established luxury brands with its 2019 G70 sports sedan, which takes aim squarely at the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class with its styling, features, performance and price. Interest in the G70 this week was high enough to propel our critique of the sedan into the top five reviews of the week, this despite not having been published until Tuesday.

reviewer Kelsey Mays found the G70 fun to drive — especially with the turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 — though maybe not quite up to snuff with some of its more established competitors. Nonetheless, it’s a solid first attempt. Mays reserved special praise for the interior, however.

“Inside, the G70 is a godsend,” Mays gushed. “Take it from someone who harps on impractical interiors all the time: This is the commonsense sports sedan. Mercifully absent are capacitive-touch buttons, arcane menu structures and console-mounted knob or touchpad controllers — all maddening developments from too many luxury brands.”

If you’re in the market for a luxury sports sedan, you’ll definitely want to give the rest of Mays’ review a read.

For the week’s top videos, we have two looks at the new Lincoln Nautilus, including our first chance to get behind the wheel. You’ll also find out what it’s like to drive the updated 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata with its extra horsepower and — gasp! — tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Rounding out the list is reviewer Fred Meier’s rundown of Mazda’s CX-3 subcompact SUV, as well as a look at the major revolution GM started with … door tags? That might sound minor, but after you hear what the change is, you’ll see why these tags are a big deal.
